1) Eligibility:
All kids age 8 to 17. You must be ten on race day June 22, 2008 to race in the Super Stock or Masters; between 8 to 14 to race in Stock Division. Proof of age is required.

2) Registration:
Go to Pikes Peak Acura or this web site to register. The registration fee is $25. For more information, call: Pikes Peak Derby Race Director: 719-488-8808.

3) Order a Car Kit:
Order a Stock, Super Stock or Masters Car Kit and a set of Z-Glass wheels from:
  All-American Soap Box Derby
  PO Box 7225
  Akron, Ohio
  44306
  Phone: 330-733-8723
You can order online at: www.aasbd.org

Be careful! There are three car classes. The Pikes Peak Acura Soap Box Derby race will run the Stock Division, Super Stock division and Masters Division. Be sure you order the right car.

4) Get a Sponsor:
A complete kit plus wheels and shipping will cost about $650 for a stock or super stock and $750 for masters. You should line up one or more sponsors to help you pay the expenses. Sponsors are allowed to advertise on the car.

5) Build Your Car:
You must build your own car with help from an adult—parent, friend, or mentor. It’s a joint effort between you and your parent, but you must do most of the work yourself. The kits take about a day to assemble. Follow the instructions exactly. Total weight of the car, wheels and driver for Stock is 200lbs, for Super Stock is 230lbs and for Masters is 255lbs. Car building clinics will be announced later.

6) Trial Runs:
Come to the trial race and practice inspection on June 8 to see how your car is doing.

7) Race Day—June 22:
The race will be held on Costilla Street between El Paso and Wasatch Streets—8am to finish. Plans are to run a double elimination race. Each heat consists of two racers down the track. The cars and drivers are brought back to the top of the hill to continue the race. You must lose twice to be eliminated. All racers receive a participation trophy and the top finishers receive place trophies. All participants are required to attend the awards ceremony immediately after the race and will receive a prize. The winning cars and drivers will be sent to Akron, Ohio and given a stipend to participate in derby week and the All-American Soap Box Derby.
